The GM Performance Division's Racing activities have focused on competing in various race /enthusiast programs with emphasis on production-based vehicles or powertrains. In the past, these projects included competitive race programs such as SCCA racing, Grand Am Cup and land-speed competitions at the Bonneville Salt Flats. The GM Performance engineers and technicians that create the production-based performance variants are also directly involved with the racing activities. Through this type of validation, the outstanding engineers gain crucial knowledge of real-world race competition. This experience allows GMPD to best support the corporation in striving to Design, Engineer and Build the World’s Best Vehicles.
